Interactive Session with Police and Customs Officials on IPR Enforcement - Best Practices

CII has been spearheading its campaign to build a strong IP ecosystem in the country for many years. The existence of such a framework which rewards innovators by protecting their intellectual property is one of the key points for making our industries competitive as well as attracting investments. One of the facets of a strong IP ecosystem is enforcement of IPR. For the past few years CII in association with several Police Academies and Customs Houses has been conducting orientation sessions on IPR enforcement. There programmes are aimed at working police and customs officials in various disctricts/zones of different states in India. The objective of such programmes is to equip the enforcement officials with the know how of distinguishing between genuine and counterfeit goods. Various industry representatives/ IP professionals/Lawyers are invited as faculty for such one day programmes to deliver lectures.

In last ten years, Confederation of Indian Industry has taken a lead role in fight against counterfeiting and piracy and has conducted en- numbers of orientation sessions for various stakeholders on the aspects of anti-counterfeiting & anti-Piracy. With an objective of building a strong and prolonged partnership between the right holders and enforcement agencies and to strengthen co-ordination between them, CII is organizing a series of interactive sessions for the enforcement bodies in the different parts of India( Delhi , Faridabad, Patna, Kanpur, Mumbai, Mysore, Kochi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Vishapatnam, J&K, Shimla, Rajasthan, Pune, MP, Goa, Gujarat etc)

The orientation sessions paved a way for collaborative efforts between Custom & Right Holders in IPR enforcement and pave way for partnerships in combating counterfeiting & piracy, which is one of the major challenges confronting the industry, policy makers & the enforcement agencies.
