The Confederation of Indian Industry, in association with the Intellectual Property Office, Government of India, is organising the CII International Conference on Strengthening Anti-Counterfeiting & Piracy 2026 on 23 June 2026 at Silver Oak Hall, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, under the theme: Combating Counterfeiting & Piracy: Protecting Brands, Businesses & Bharat. The Conference is being organised with Japan as the Country Partner, reflecting the shared commitment of India and Japan towards strengthening innovation, intellectual property protection, and trusted markets through global collaboration.
Counterfeiting and piracy continue to pose significant challenges to businesses, governments, consumers, and innovation ecosystems worldwide. The increasing proliferation of counterfeit products and digital piracy across sectors such as FMCG, pharmaceuticals, automotive, electronics, apparel, and media & entertainment has resulted in substantial economic losses, erosion of brand value, risks to consumer health and safety, and adverse impacts on employment and tax revenues. With counterfeit and pirated goods accounting for a significant share of global trade, there is an urgent need for stronger enforcement, industry collaboration, technology-driven solutions, and consumer awareness initiatives.
Against this backdrop, the Conference aims to provide a collaborative platform for industry leaders, policymakers, enforcement agencies, technology providers, legal experts, and international stakeholders to deliberate on emerging challenges, share global best practices, and explore innovative strategies to effectively combat counterfeiting and piracy. The discussions will focus on critical themes including the evolving counterfeiting landscape in the digital age, strengthening enforcement mechanisms, leveraging technology for brand protection, and building consumer awareness and industry collaboration.
